Ansan Mountain

Located in the Seodaemun-gu district of Seoul, Ansan Mountain is 295.5 meters high and is popular for its easy hiking trails and beautiful scenery. While there are multiple paths to choose from, the trail on the eastern side of the mountain is the most well-known as it passes by Independence Park, the location of the historic Seodaemun Prison. Many of the paths up the mountain are made up of a boardwalk, so anyone of any age can make this trek without worrying about slipping or tripping. At the top of Ansan is an observation deck with a jaw-dropping view of Seoul and the surrounding area. Additionally, Bongwonsa Temple, which is the head temple of the Taego Order of Korean Buddhism, is located at the bottom of the southeastern hillside of the mountain.
